Customized products made from technical ceramics (in particular Al2O3)
The most commonly used high-performance ceramic material is aluminum oxide (Al2O3). The material is available in different purity grades and can be "functionalized" by adjusting the oxide content as well as via appropriate additions of oxides (e.g. manganese, zirconium or titanium oxide). Alumina is hard, wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant and has a high electrical insulating capacity.
Alumina (like quartz) can be machined with conventional abrasive tools on appropriate CNC machines. Thus, even very complex workpieces can be manufactured from Al2O3 alumina. We primarily offer components made of high-purity aluminum oxide for applications in semiconductor manufacturing (99.7%, according to DIN ISO C799). However, materials corresponding to C795 (96%) and C786 (92%) are also available upon customer request.
Due to its good price-performance ratio and universal properties, alumina ceramics can be used in a wide variety of applications:
Typical applications (selection):
- High-performance insulators
- Space applications
- Use as dielectric
- Ceramic welding nozzles
- Bearing bushings
- Substrates in electronics
- Corrosion protection and filters in chemistry
- Implants in human medicine
- High-temperature ceramic components (burner nozzles, support tubes for heating conductors)
